Everyone Should Learn a Little about Law

While lawyers and judges are the ultimate legal experts, of course, I believe that every citizen should take the time to learn a little about law for several reasons. First, it is important to know your rights, and knowing them can come in handy if anyone ever accuses you of a crime you didn't commit or threatens you legally in another other way. Second, learning about your local, state, and federal laws can help you act as a better citizen. When election time comes around, you can then truly understand ever change in law being proposed by a candidate and whether it benefits society or not. I plan to share posts about law topics explained in plain English on my new blog, so you can come back often to sharpen your legal knowledge!

4 Types Of Cases Commonly Handled By Personal Injury Lawyers

Kaylee Wells

Personal injury lawyers handle different types of injury cases. Unfortunately, many people are only aware of a small number of the different cases that these attorneys handle. As a result, individuals may not know where to turn for help with their specific legal issues. You can avoid finding yourself in this same situation by taking a few minutes to familiarize yourself with some of the different types of cases these lawyers routinely handle.

Auto Injury Claims

Auto injury claims make up a large portion of the cases that many personal injury lawyers handle. While many people realize that an attorney can help with serious accident claims, they may not realize that many attorneys also take on cases involving more minor injuries as well. If you have been hurt as the result of a negligent or distracted driver, it is always a good idea to consult a personal injury lawyer before settling your claim directly with the insurance company.

Workers' Compensation Claims

Workers' compensation claims can result from either an on-the-job accident or as the result of repetitive motion injuries. If you suffer any type of injury as a result of performing your job duties, you may be entitled to compensation under workers' compensation laws. Furthermore, a personal injury lawyer may be able to help you secure this compensation.

Medical Malpractice Claims

Medical malpractice claims are often quite difficult to pursue on your own for a few reasons. First, malpractice insurance providers are often represented by a team of lawyers who are all fighting to help them avoid paying a settlement. Second, proving medical malpractice will often require the testimony of at least one medical professional who is not directly involved in the case. Securing this type of testimony can be costly. Hiring a personal injury lawyer to help you pursue a malpractice claim will ensure you have the legal protection you need while also giving you access to the resources required to effectively pursue this type of claim.

Product Liability Claims

Product manufacturers can be held legally liable for injuries that occur when their product is used as intended. This fact remains true regardless of whether a single person is injured or a large group of individuals suffers injury. In both situations, a personal injury lawyer may be able to help. If only a single person is injured by the product, a personal injury lawyer can help to file a product liability claim. However, if multiple people suffer similar injuries, an attorney can help to organize and pursue a class action lawsuit.
